AV Consultancy for lecture theatres, teaching spaces, group study and meeting rooms in University of Derby Business School.
The £70m Cavendish Building, at the University of Derby, is the new home for the university’s business school. The building features innovative teaching and learning spaces, two large lecture facilities, meeting rooms and a stock market financial trading room.
Prof Kathryn Mitchell, vice-chancellor and chief executive of the University, said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for the University as this new landmark building will serve as a dynamic hub where industry, students, and academics come together to drive innovation and shape a better future for society.”
Drama by Design were engaged by the University to carry out the design, co-ordination, project management, testing and commissioning of all the AV systems throughout the new building in a total of 29 rooms.
The main lecture theatre features a 7m x 4m LED video wall with a controller enabling either one large image, or two image either side. There is a full AV system consisting of two 43″ confidence monitors on the floor, a lectern with touch control system, and a Creston 1-Beyond camera system with six cameras automatically controlled via Shure beam steering microphones mounted on the ceiling.
The smaller Harvard style lecture theatre features a 160″ LED wall with a full AV system with lectern, PTZ AI auto tracking camera and distributed audio system.
There is a trading room with a ticker tape LED display both inside the room, and outside facing into the atrium.
All the teaching spaces are equipped with full AV systems with LED displays, rise and fall accessible lecterns, and WiFi assisted listening systems.
Oyther AV-equipped spaces include a podcast studio, various sizes of meeting rooms, digital signage throughout the building, and a business enterprise centre.
Drama by Design worked on the design of the AV systems throughout the building, coordinated the design with the design team and the main contractor, and witness tested all the systems on completion.
